I have asked the government:

“What discussions has the Environment Agency had with water companies regarding the ending of sewage being dumped into the Lake District, World Heritage Site and how far off are they from achieving high quality water in accordance with the water framework directive?”

In 2020, Lake Windermere had the equivalent of 71 days where raw sewage was dumped into it. This is happening more and more around the country as water companies make huge profits, while taking little action to deal with the problems.

Stopping sewage from being dumped is one of the 14 amendments to the Environment Bill from the Lords that your Green Party peers have been working hard to promote. Please lobby your MP and also, sign the petition about cleaning up Lake Windermere.
