The Church of England needs to exercise its proper leadership role as the established church to help our country mitigate the worst aspects of future climate change by committing to rewild at least 10% (i.e., the Biblical tithe) of its land by 2030.
Wild Card’s Rewild the Church campaign was launched on Sunday. Led by Chris Packham and young Christian activists, around 150 people, including Church members, clergy, and people from other faiths peacefully marched to St Pauls in London to display the 95 Wild Theses.
Jenny contributed to this document which now includes contributions from an incredible range of leading academics, theologians, scientists, politicians and activists including household names such as Michael Gove, Caroline Lucas, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstal, Stephen Fry, and many others.
The campaign had a strong showing of national news coverage with an opinion piece in The Independent; national news pieces in The Independent, The Express, The Evening Standard and a number of others; they were syndicated across BBC radio stations and featured on the headline news summaries on BBC Radio 2, 4, 5 and 6; they had a piece on ITV London morning TV news on Monday and most significantly had this excellent piece in the Church Times in which some theses are quoted.
