Baroness Jenny Jones speech on her Regret Motion:

“There are many reasons why proscribing Palestine Action is a bad idea. Listening to the Minister, I thought that his descriptions of the three organisations had very distinct differences and that the actions of Palestine Action did not appear to have the same calibre of evil as those of the other two. Therefore, collectively organising these three into one SI is perhaps a little bit sneaky of this Government. Palestine Action is not like any other group that the British Government have so far declared a terrorist organisation. I was 12 years on the Met Police Authority and in that time I had lots of anti-terrorist briefings. To me, the actions of Palestine Action do not ring true as terrorist activities. Imprisonment for Public Protection Bill

We cannot say that we have a justice system if we have an innate injustice such as this. The sentencing and continued imprisonment of IPP prisoners has just been cruel. We Greens are well aware that prison is overused as a tool of justice. Far too many people are imprisoned, when there are much more effective ways of rehabilitation or stopping reoffending. Keeping Labour honest

Jenny aims to keep Labour honest! Pushing the government to provide proper funding for their new Anti-corruption Covid Commissioner in order to expose the true extent of corruption in Britain over last 14 years and the need for democratic safeguards. She says ‘it’s very important to clean up properly, corruption has to be seen as something that will be called out AND punished’.

Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Bill Second Reading

Fujitsu is still a major government contractor which gives money to the Conservative Party. Fujitsu should be in the dock and prosecutions should already have begun. If you let major corporations run your Government, taxpayers will be ripped off and find that they are paying out millions when things go wrong.
